Other reasons to locate a person may include: reunification of birth parents & children, re-establish contact with long-lost friends or relatives, check on a person’s health & well-being, service of process, inheritances, deadbeat parents, or debtors.

Won’t the police work on my case?
While your local police department will assist in some of these missing person cases (runaways, lost or abducted children, locating endangered adults, or check on the welfare), keep in mind that police departments are public agencies. As such, they often have only limited time and budget available to work on your missing person case. The police are required to balance attention to a substantial call-load or case-load.
The advantage of having a private investigator work on your missing person case is that more time and priority can be directed to working on your case by your PI. When appropriate, we highly recommend that parallel law enforcement and private missing person investigations be conducted. This approach will maximize resources to resolve your case.
